Odds and Ends

I saw this posted today and thought that I would add it in here for everyone. Someone currently using Dreamweaver MX 2004 notices that the size of the text in the Help system is very small and is wondering how to make it bigger.

Of course you can make it larger, but not through Dreamweaver, it's done by clicking View > Text Size > and choosing a larger text size in Internet Explorer. It took me a little thinking to get this one on my own.

Also along the same track would be how to increase or decrease the text size in Dreamweaver MX itself.

With Dreameaver MX open click on Edit > Preferences and then choose the category of Fonts on the left of the Preferences window. Then within the Code View drop downs you can choose both the font and also the size simply by clicking on them.

I Need Some Photos...

Here is a question that I've received recently from my web site. Remember that you can email me questions whenever you have them.

What is the best way to get photos for blending together or for simply using on a website? I've purchased the "Big Box of Art" which contains all kinds of graphics and some photos, but is there a better photo collection that I can purchase?

I'm not sure if there are better photo collections out there that you can purchase, however there are many web sites that you can find images on some free some not free.

Dreamweaver MX - Inserting Superscript

Should I have to work really hard to insert a simple format option like superscript? Is there a way to add the tag to the Favorites tab on the insert toolbar?

The <hr> tag...that's easier. On the "insert" toolbar, click on the HTML tab. The first choice on the left is the insert horizontal rule. Alternatively, using the "Insert" menu, choose HTML then horizontal rule.

You can customize the Favorites Toolbar to have what you want on it. There is an easier way, you could hand-code it in code view or use this snippet, which may help you.

Hyperspeed Firefox

If you would like to get your copy of Mozilla Firefox to speed into hyperdrive, you can make some minor modifications and it will take off.

To make the modifications simply open your copy of Firefox and type the following into the address line: about:config and press the Enter key

Then scroll down to the line labeled network.http.pipelining and set that line from false to true

Finally, set the network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to 10

Make sure not to set the network.http.pipelining.maxrequests line any higher than 10 otherwise you may experience some problems.

Spice Up You Web Site

An excellent site for relatively easy spice-it-up stuff.

Just one thing that you all should be beware of is the potential of conflicting onload event handlers, which you may run into with rollover effects. You will have to combine your onload events into one place, probably the body tag. Just thought you would like to know.

I noticed the following question a posting to a list that I visit often and thought that I'd throw it in here for you.

How do you get text to wrap around the image...? Right, left or center...

All images have an align property which you can set and the text will wrap
around it.

Examples:
img src="myimage.jpg" width="300" height="200" border="0" align="right"
img src="myimage.jpg" width="300" height="200" border="0" align="left"
img src="myimage.jpg" width="300" height="200" border="0" align="center"
